Native Tongue

The Handmaiden's Tale by Margaret Atwood
House like a Lotus by Madaleine L'Engel
Sabriel by Garth Nix

I actually liked this book despite the graphic descriptions of the mutilated babies.  It had interesting plots, and the concept of language as a commodity never occurred to me.

In regards to the mutilated babies from the interface, do you think our society could ever reach a point where we disregard ethics to this extreme?  Could this be the author's way of raising the ethics of stem cell research and psychotropic drugs for children?
